This is as good as it gets in Green Bay for Indian food and let me tell you it's pretty good. I have never been there for dinner but have been there twice for lunch and both times were amazing. They have a lunch buffet that is huge and the food is delicious. The service is great even though it is a buffet which is even better. I recommend the Tikka Masala. I thought it was absolutely amazing. The best I have ever had. Highly recommend this place and will visit it often!

This is Green Blah, WI. We have this one Indian Restaurant. No, it is not like Indian dining in Cambridge, MA, but feel lucky because there is so little to choose from in this most boring city. The lunch buffet is absolutely fine, a small assortment of indian dishes and some strange American things. The chicken was a little dry, but so what? I was happy to try all the Indian dishes and not be eating standard American fare for a change.

Wonderful place for indian food in green bay

The samosas, naan, pakora, tandoori chicken, lamb curry, are all great, but the chicken tikka masala is MIND BLOWING. There are always the owners little kids running around...adorable.

Since the new owners have had the place, replacing those aptly described in another review as dour, we have been coming more and more regularly to A Taste of India. The atmosphere as improved a bit but the food has improved a lot more. We also have been getting really good service when we go, though to be fair we are ordering carry out more often. Now it's on our monthly cycle of places we get food from.

I've been here twice, coming to Green Bay on business. I came here because I read positive reviews on Yelp and love Indian food. I was disappointed both times. At best, it was a large, forgettable meal. The Thali dinner in the menu up on Yelp was discontinued. So I ordered the mixed grill, a sampler served sizzling over onions, for a bit of variety. Also ordered a sampler appetizer plate. The flavors were OK, but nothing was good. Particularly disappointing was the meat (fish, chicken, and lamb): all dry and overcooked. Chutneys were mediocre and watery. Pakoras were stale and flavorless. Samosa was a big mealy gut bomb of potato. Service was polite, though not friendly. Overall, rather disappointing. I won't be back.

I've eaten here twice over the last two years with large groups (8+) of people. The service and food has been excellent each time. We all try to order different things and sample amongst ourselves. I like a fair amount of heat and find their "medium" spiced dishes about right. My sister ordered an eggplant curry spiced "hot" that I also enjoyed, but was too spicy for many at the table. I'm no expert at Indian food - but others at the table that are more knowledgeable found the food to be authentic and tasty.

Can 't believe I haven't reviewed this years ago. Hm. Anyway, there aren't many Indian places in Green Bay. and this one is handy and good. Just off the highway- pretty hard to find, so keep your eyes peeled. Park next to the bike shop. Pleasant decor, good but unobtrusive service. I usually go for the buffet, which has a small but sufficient variety of very good food. Get a lassi, fill your plate, and enjoy.

I ordered a biryani and trust me I have never tasted something that doesn't taste like biryani but just named as one. Adding to my frustration the staff who attend me male in mid 40s was inhospitable... I would not recommend this restaurant.

Excellent Indian food. Huge menu. Great Buffet. Comfortable. Great for families, dates, groups. Nice little Indian grocery in back. Polite and attentive staff. Prices are fair, not at all greedy.

I was a fan of the $5.95 lunch buffet. But they raised the price to $9 and didn't improve the food at all. The food/selection was always just ok. But for the price I was happy. Went there Wednesday and the tandoori chicken was sooo dry. I don't know how chicken in a sauce can be that dry. The only other meat was mint beef. It was very tender but not flavorful. It was such a disappointment. Also I think they charged me an extra $2 to use my debit card! I will NEVER go there again.

Good food, disappointingly slow and in attentive service.

Another great meal at Taste of India. The Mushroom Masala is so good. So is the vegetable curry, samosa, and the Garlic Naan.

The food is as expected, nothing exceptional but good variety and good taste.

Although the decor is slightly lacking, the food here is great and the staff is always friendly. The smells of Indian spices waft out of the building all the way to the parking lot. My favorite here is either the mango chicken or the Shahi Paneer. They also have a very reasonable lunch buffet, with a wide variety of curries, rice, pakoras and naan. Their coconut naan is to die for! I would highly recommend Taste of India to anyone, especially those who have not yet experienced the joys of Indian cuisine!

I was already seated when I started to read the Yelp reviews. A few mentioned bad service, and bitter chutney, but I found that neither of these proved true. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, and it came out excellent. It was rich, creamy and flavorful. I didn't wait long, and the prices were reasonable. I'd certainly come back.

You will not find a better restaurant in Green Bay than Taste of India. In fact, you may not find a better Indian restaurant in the entire state of Wisconsin. The owners are from Northern India, but they make sure to include Southern Indian cuisine at their buffet and on their dinner menu. The buffet is 8.95, always includes their what should be world famous Tikka Masala, and is all you can eat. INCLUDING at least two desserts. Each dish is complex and aromatic, and perfectly balanced. Plus, the food is NOT spicy, the spicy stuff is available on the side so one can fine tune to one's own palate. Their dinner menu is extensive, offering many vegetarian dishes. I have celiac disease, which means I cannot eat any gluten. Taste of India has always been super accommodating to my food needs. Unlike many other restaurants, Taste of India knows exactly what is in every dish because they make EVERYTHING from scratch. Everything there is amazing, but below I have listed my personal favorites. -Don't miss: Chicken Tikka Masala, and Kulfi (saffron ice cream, you will never taste anything more divine), Chai.

Love the food here. First looking at Yelp picture, I thought I will not go here. Look at the bright red curry - looks like artificial coloring which isn't good for our health. I wish someone can delete that picture from Yelp. Very misleading. But the food was perfect. I ordered Briyani and lamb curry - very delightful. Went there again for my next trip and ordered chicken curry and naan, it was nice and tasty.

Soulful Indian food. Few restaurants take the time to fully develop the flavors of Indian food like these guys. Of course the owner is in the kitchen and you can tell.

Great place for Indian. We love the lunch buffet and they are always always nice!! We also like the Indian bazaar around the corner so we can try to make our own food too, but it's never quite as good ;-)

Had a hankering for some Indian food while working in the middle of nowhere. So a vegetarian colleague and I swung by this place after work to try their non-buffet offerings. The food was excellent - but I attribute the savory goodness to the amount of cream they used in all of the sauces. We had the #10 (creamy paneer with veggies and cream sauce), a potato/pea/paneer cream mixture (also very good), and kidney/black bean/soupy concoction (good flavor, but just OK compared to the first two). Garlic Naan was awful - burnt and not too much garlicy flavor: avoid! Rice was flavorful (buttered well, I believe!) 3 dishes, 2 naans for $44, and 2 big guys still couldn't finish the entire meal. Overall a thumbs up in my book.

    (4)
  • Aaron B.

Everything was great! Good service, great food! Only reason didn't make a 5 star in my book was I ordered my curry hot, and it just didn't have enough kick for a curry labeled as hot. That doesn't change the fact that the food still tasted amazing and had great flavor. The Mango Lassi was definitely a must.

  • Aditi M.

No paneer curry in the lunch buffet on Sunday 16 August. Kadhi pakoras were the same spinach pakora that was there in appetizer, height of cutting corners guys . Plz up ur standard.

  • Roxanne J.

Went in for lunch buffet at 2:45 and server told us we couldn't eat there because they were closing. If you close at 2:45 then please advertise that instead of 3. Yeah, we were assholes for coming late but it's a BUFFET and you didn't even have to make anything. Will never come here again.

  • Kirsten M.

Excellent place if you're craving some Indian food. The Mango lassi, which is mango and rose water, or mango milkshake to drink are something different and delicious. Garlic or coconut naan bread is a must order with your dinner. The curry chicken or tikka masala are my favorites, so much flavor packed into the sauce - which you have to dip your naan bread in! Hole in the wall restaurant (I almost walked into the bike shop accidentally) but great food!

  • Dusti M.

The lunch buffet here is pretty good. Not the best I have had but good for the price. The dinner here is good as well the the service is horrible. We have been on multiple occasions and every time the service was so slow. Even when we are the only ones there. For the food alone I would give a few more stars but the poor service knocks it down. I usually get the chicken tikka masala and have yet to be disappointed.

Pathetic place ever....very deadly staff service and very much rude staff...not good for families at all...we started going appelton where we have good food n service options available. ONE SHOULD AVOID THIS PLACE..

  • Preston D.

Curry sauce was amazing. Coconut milk and cashews with a medium plus heat has me craving more. Chicken was slightly over cooked but was not bothered due to flavors in sauce. Rice cooked to perfection and garlic naan bread. A real treat reasonably priced.

  • Tej M.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. The last few reviews weren't very positive but I tried it with some co-workers anyway. As an Indian from New York, I tend to have high expectations for Indian food. I would rate the food 3/5 but we had attentive service and a positive experience so I will give them 4 overall. Ordered samosa, chicken tikka, lamb shahikorma, tandoori chicken, lamb biryani, and channa masala. The chicken tikka and lamb shahikorma were both very good. The biryani wasn't the best but was spicy-- the lamb was also well-cooked. The samosa filling could have been tastier (less cloves, more masala), and the tandoori chicken meat was subpar. Overall a solid choice for a tasty dinner in Green Bay.

Very Bad Customer Service. The lady with big black glasses at the front desk is very rude. Attitude, rude and harsh are the words to explain the customer service at this place. My suggestion is to drive to Appleton to get better Indian food.

  • Murali K.

Poor service. Pappad and chutney was bitter. Food was not bad but far from authentic Indian food. One of those "Indian" restaurants that throws a little bit of every spice in the world and makes you want to search for a restroom in 2 hours. They offer something like a fajita with Indian spices, throw in broccoli in biryani- you get the idea. American Mexican Indian fusion food. Very Overpriced for the kind of service offered. We were offered to-go boxes and check before letting us finish the food(the offer shod ve been for dessert). I was asked to walk to the register to sign and the lady was peeping into the slip as I was writing a tip. I would shy away from visiting again!

Taste of India is by far one of the best restaurants in Green Bay. The service is great, but most importantly the food is AMAZING. I've eaten Indian food in many different cities, but this is by far my favorite. If you have never been to Taste of India then you won't know what you're missing! Try their lamb masala or shahi paneer. They also have an interesting selection of beer to try. The lunch buffet is very reasonably priced, but you will get better quality from ordering off the dinner menu.

20 minutes in this restaurant and I am full of tastey Indian food. For only $9 I have completely shocked my entire digestive system with a plethora of spices, meats and vegetables. I may regret how much I ate later today, but it was damn good. A wise man once told me "what goes in must come out." To this I would reply that there is no better way to flush your system than with good Indian food.

Worst service and irritating staff person.( Only one person in his mid 40s). made us wait for 1 hr 15 minutes just for a small order. We were actually told the wait time be just 20 to 25 minutes. When asked,he said it takes time and cancel the order if you dont want.

  • Theo K.

Super good Indian food! Very clean and fresh, not oily and greasy like some places in Milwaukee. The Chicken Tikka Masala and The Goat Curry is some of the best Ive ever had. The lunch and weekend buffet is a great way to try new dishes as well! Enjoy!

  • Anish S.

The food is pretty decent. Most of the time that is. If you all ahead and place an order to go, it turns out good most if the time. The buffet can be pretty stale at times. What I have a major major problem is with the service. Unfortunately the staff have reached a level of complacency that they really don't care or is it that they feel they can be rude and get away with it. I was there with my mom who was visiting and we stopped by for lunch. Sadly the waiter was interested in serving one or two tables and even when you wave them down, they seem annoyed that you did that. This happened more than a few times and it was so childish and unprofessional that they would take your order and then wouldn't bring it. There's nothing worse than you sitting halfway through your meal and waiting for food that was ordered prior. When it came time to pay, I went to the counter where the elderly gentleman was present and I told him about it. His response was 'this is how it is!'. Now for the non Indian people who have rated the food and service etc very high on Yelp for this restaurant... You guys need to go to an actual Indian restaurant to eat actual fresh flavourful Indian food. Since this is the only one around you guys think this is the best. That's wrong. All you are doing is telling the owner and staff that this junk wil satisfy you cos you don't know better and they know that.

Unbelievable. I located this restaurant as we left Chicago and looked forward to eating here the ENTIRE drive. They closed from 3 to 5 each day. We are next door at the Mexican restaurant. They are in there cooking - would it really be so hard to be customer friendly!?!?!?

Taste Of India is by-far the BEST Indian restaurant in the Green Bay area! That was a joke. As far as I know, it's the only Indian restaurant in the Green Bay area. This being said, I would give Taste Of India 4-stars if my rating were fully contingent on the food. The decor is sparse, but the restaurant itself is comfortable enough. The menu presents a broad glimpse of Indian cuisine, eschewing or blending regional variances, for the most part. While I wouldn't say the cuisine is 100% authentic, or the greatest Indian cuisine I've ever had, it provides a delicious introduction for newcomers to Indian food. The naan bread tastes fresh-baked, and each meal begins with complimentary papadum and delicious chutneys. Truthfully, my primary complaint with Taste Of India is based on the service. I've had more than one dining experience where the only words exchanged between the waiter/waitress and myself were, "What would you like?" This isn't a restaurant were I would expect friendly exchanges with the waitstaff, or to have my beverage refilled. I don't like to have a spicy curry without a cold beer; I'd recommend ordering two beers, because you may not get a chance for a second. Oh, yeah, one other thing: If you really like spicy food, ask for "hotter than hot." Whenever I've ordered my dish "hot," I've been disappointed by the level of heat. Despite my complaints, I continue to visit Taste Of India fairly regularly. Though the service typically isn't fantastic, the restaurant does a decent job of encompassing the flavors of Indian cuisine. The food and reasonable prices are easily enough to make this a regular dining destination.

On a recent visit to Green Bay some local friends suggested this spot for dinner.(Living in Chicagoland, I have a vast selection of really good Indian restaurants.) Between the three of us we had a Beef and a Shrimp dish that was advertised as the evening specials, Chicken Tikka Masala, a spinach appetizer. Not much meat in any of the dishes... We all had water as our beverages. The bill came to $52 plus change. It was odd when we pulled up to this hidden restaurant at 4:50pm, doors locked, no one in sight, no lights on inside. They advertise to open at 5pm. We left for 20 minutes to shop at a nearby store and returned by 5:10ish. The place was lit up like a Christmas tree when we returned. Upon ordering, our food came to the table within 10 minutes of ordering! Maybe leftover food reheated from the Lunch Buffett? That's what my stomach felt like at 1am, ugh:/

Ive been a regular at this place for more than a year now and Ive usually had a good experience except for when ever I find the waitress (the only female waitress) serving me. Believe me you don't want to deal with this person. . I've had 2 encounters with her and both were really annoying. The first was a team lunch at the buffet when they ran out of the naans. When we informed her about it, she told us that we should not have come in a big gang.... I mean seriously? Only when we were just about to leave another elderly employee intervened and probably talked some sense into this arrogant fool. Another time was when I was there for an order pick up when I had to wait 25 minutes more than the time given to me for the pickup. When suggested that they should give appropriate time to the customers, the arrogant lady told me right on my face, that they were not taking any phone orders that day and I should consider myself really lucky. When I asked her, why did they pick up my call in the first place and if that was my problem that their kitchen is running busy, she told me right on my face "I don't know who picked up your phone". That was it, I simply started to walk out without picking up my food and not paying her, and I think thats when she realized she is loosing money and apologized. Although, they have decent food I don't think so I'm gonna go back to this place again. BEWARE: If you go there, dodge this waitress else consider your lunch/ dinner ruined.

Why can't I give 0 stars or even better negative points? I am an Indian. I don't expect authentic Indian food from any of these Indian restaurants in US, but I expect to get what I pay for. Some good food, worthy of it's name in the menu. 1st time here, drove from Appleton for Dinner. Ordered Chicken Biryani (Popular Rice dish) and Samosa ( stuffed and fried appetizer) Samosa was served in 3 minutes of our order. It was stale. I am not exaggerating. I could smell it as if it was fried 3 days ago and microwaved then. We were unhappy with this. But expected at least the Biryani to be good. Just be Biryani. In came the surprise. Vegetable Pulav was mixed with separately cooked chicken and stir fried just before serving. How could I accept this for Biryani? Many non-Indians come here and since they really don't know each dish, they are pretty much satisfied with their food. My point is if you cannot serve "Indian" food and keep cheating non-Indians by serving such tasteless food (Calling it authentic Indian) they would never have good impression about Indian food. Indian food has a lot of flavor, some are spicy, and some soothing as baby food, certain dishes are delicately spiced and some are intense. And such restaurants serve "plain, greasy, smelly, old/stale, tasteless" junk for $30 dinner. I cannot take it. And the waiter was so impolite when we told him about the food. He rudely said "We cannot cook the minute you order". So why the hell run a restaurant? We better stay home and eat microwaved food. My suggestion is if you are near this place and want Indian food (true Indian) , just drive to Appleton - India Darbar. I'm not here to advertise India Darbar. I did have lunch buffet 6 months ago in India Darbar and was so dissatisfied. But now, the chef seems to have changed. Had 3 consecutive dinners in there. Tasty food, value for money and good customer service.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while. I decided to order out, 15 minutes later when I arrived my order was ready. I had the tandoori chicken and the chicken vindaloo along with a side of the naan. Service was friendly when I talked in, it looked clean and there were a large number of people I'm assuming are from both India and Pakistan eating there( always a sign of the best places). The tandoori chicken was great as was the vindaloo, I asked for it hot and was expecting it to be a little hotter, but perhaps because this is green bay, they went easy on me. The naan was delicious. Very authentic! I'll be back.

This is the best (and only) Indian restaurant in Green Bay. I could eat here everyday! Here's what you need to know: ~Lunch buffet is AWESOME if you can get there in time. They have about 6 different curries to choose from, 2 different kinds of rice, 2 types of naan and other dishes (lots of vegetable based ones) all for $8.95. ~If I'm coming for dinner, my favorite thing to order here: Shahi Paneer and coconut naan. ~The mango lassies are delicious and come highly recommended from me. ~$10 minimum if you pay by credit card. ~First time trying Indian food? I'd specifically recommend shahi paneer or the mango chicken curry. Ask for yogurt sauce if you don't like things too spicy. Also, if you're looking for a place to have a dinner party or gathering, they have many dining options at very reasonable prices. My sister in law had her rehearsal dinner here and we couldn't have been more satisfied with our experience.

I love Indian food!! Especially this place I can't wait to go back! Had the lunch buffet very good selection. I was so worried I wouldn't find Indian food in Wisconsin so glad I found this place! The chicken tandoori was delicious.

I must admit, I visited Taste of India with fairly low expectations. Not because of anything I had heard or read about it, but I just didn't think there would be decent Indian food in Green Bay. It was a great meal. My dining companion and I each had the sampler platter (mine the veggie and his the meat), which were a perfect way to try various dishes. We even had enough for a full meal the next day (which may have even tasted better after the flavors had a day to set). I've only visited once and can't discuss consistency, but look forward to dining at Taste of India again.

THERE IS AN INDIAN RESTAURANT IN GREEN BAY! I say this both to rejoice, as well as because as someone who was applying for a job up there, this was very important information. And know what? It was darn good. Ample space, friendly staff, extensive menu, good prices. Wine and beer selections, although we went with a lassi, also good. I had my standby, the malai kofta. Really good depth of flavors, tasted very fresh, and had more than enough to eat. The people I dined with here were SOOO happy this place had arrived. I have to say, I concur.

Very amazing to have found this place after a Packer game. With the help of yelp, we looked this place up after the game and where pleasantly surprised. Looking at the exterior, had us a bit worried, but upon entering, the smells lead us to believe that the food would be okay. It was. The cheese naan was great well cooked and flavorful. The chicken tikka masala was amazing. I ordered hot, I always do, and this place brought the heat, in a pleasant way. I would however avoid the chai, as that was not too nice. Also if they are listening, add more Ghee and some Saffron to your rice and you will thank me for it later. Go Packers and Go to Taste of India, if you get the chance. Worth the visit.
